Draw the graph of y = 2x2
Solution:
Prepare a table of the corresponding values of x and y which satisfy the relation y 2x2.
When x = 0
y = 2(0)2
therefore y = 0
Similarly for different values of x,y is obtained.
Now lets see how to draw the graph of y = 2x2.
Scale: 1 cm = 1 unit.
The coordinates of x and y for point A are (0,0) for point B are (1,2) for point C are (2,8) for point D are (-1,2) for point E are (-2,8).
Now join the points and what we get is a parabola.
Therefore, the graph of y = 2x2 is a parabola.
