Assumed Mean Method - Numerical
The following data gives the frequency distribution of the age of 120 children.
Calculate the mean by using assumed mean method.
Solution
Let the assumed mean A equal 11.
The ages of the children denoted as x and the number of children that is the frequencies denoted by f are tabulated as shown in the tabular column.
The sum of all the frequencies is calculated by adding all the frequencies.
Therefore sigma f is equal to 120.
The deviation from the assumed mean is equal to x minus a.
Go ahead and calculate for the remaining ages and frequencies.
Use the ok button to check the entered values or solve button to get the value.
Similarly calculate for the remaining cases.
Use the ok button to check the entered values or solve button to get the value.
Click on the calculation button.
Use the formula button to know the formula for mean.
Now enter the values in the respective boxes and calculate the value of the mean.
