Graphs of linear equations
Plot the graph of each of the following equations using the same pair of axes
One y is equal to two x plus three.
Two y is equal to two x minus three by two.
Three two x minus y is equal to zero.
Solution
Consider the equation y is equal to two x plus three.
When x equals zero value of y is three.
The point (zero, three) plotted on the graph is shown.
Calculate the value when x equal to one and key in the value in the box.
Click in the ok button to check your answer.
Plot the point (one, five) on the graph.
Similarly, calculate the value when x equal to minus one.
Plot the point (minus one, one) on the graph.
Thus we obtain line AB representing equation y is equal to two x plus three.
Go ahead and obtain the graphs of equation y is equal to two x minus three by two.
Go ahead and obtain the graphs of equation two x minus y is equal to zero.
From the graph, we can see that the three lines are parallel.
